South India Wildlife Tour Itinerary
Day 1 – Kochi to Thattekad
Arrive at Kochi and travel to Thattekad in the Western Ghats. After check-in, enjoy an introductory birdwatching or wildlife session depending on arrival time.
Day 2 – Thattekad Wildlife & Birdwatching
Spend the day exploring the Thattekad landscape with a local naturalist. The area is particularly rewarding for forest birds, endemic species and other Western Ghats wildlife.
Day 3 – Thattekad to Munnar
Enjoy an early morning nature session before travelling to Munnar. The journey passes through scenic Western Ghats landscapes. Evening nature exploration around Munnar.
Day 4 – Munnar Wildlife & Birding
Explore the high-elevation habitats around Munnar. Depending on conditions and access, the day may include Eravikulam National Park and other suitable wildlife areas.
Day 5 – Munnar to Periyar
Travel from Munnar to Thekkady and Periyar through beautiful mountain scenery. Evening wildlife or nature activity.
Day 6 – Periyar Wildlife Experience
Explore the Periyar landscape with opportunities for wildlife watching, birdwatching and forest experiences. Asian elephants, gaur, sambar and numerous forest birds are among the species that may be encountered.
Day 7 – Periyar to Bandipur
Travel towards Bandipur Tiger Reserve. The route connects the forests of Kerala and Karnataka and offers an excellent transition into the major tiger landscapes of southern India.
Day 8 – Bandipur Tiger Reserve
Enjoy a morning and/or evening safari in the Bandipur landscape. The reserve is known for its tiger and leopard habitat, elephants, gaur, deer and diverse birdlife.
Day 9 – Bandipur to Mudumalai
Continue to Mudumalai Tiger Reserve. Depending on the schedule, enjoy a wildlife drive in the surrounding forest landscape.
Day 10 – Mudumalai Wildlife Safari
Explore Mudumalai through a scheduled safari. The area supports elephants, gaur, deer, primates, carnivores and many species of birds.
Day 11 – Mudumalai to Mysuru
Morning wildlife activity followed by a transfer towards Mysuru. Relax and explore the city depending on arrival time.
Day 12 – Mysuru to Kabini
Travel to Kabini and enjoy an afternoon or evening wildlife safari. Kabini is one of southern India’s well-known wildlife destinations.
Day 13 – Kabini to Mysuru/Bangalore
Enjoy a final morning wildlife experience, subject to safari availability, followed by your transfer to Mysuru or Bangalore for departure.
